Another step on our sexual journey
A couple of months ago, I mentioned that Mrs SS and I were about to take our sexual exploration to a whole new level. We were going to attend the fetish market known as the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar (brumbazaar.co.uk).
We were going on the recommendation of a friend who has done a huge amount to help us expand our sexual horizons and when we did some research, we discovered that we knew at least three people who had previous experience of the event.
You can read about how we got on in our June visit in that previous post; I said there that we were hoping to go in August with two of our 'experienced' friends who could show us the ropes (as it were....).
Unfortunately, they couldn't attend the BBB held last weekend (August 19) because of a diary clash, but we decided to go on our own and we are glad that we did. We felt much more comfortable this time and certainly weren't fazed by all the sexual toys and equipment on display, with products catering for all interests, from bondage gear to huge glass vibrators, to erotic novels to floggers.
Mrs SS bought a maid's outfit with undies, low-cut bra, corset and ears, while we also bought a fur-covered paddle for light spanking, a step up from the tickling stick we purchased on our first visit.
The more familiar we get with the BBB, the more comfortable we get with the whole experience; Mrs SS was completely unfussed about being served by a transvestite in full outfit, while the discussions we held between ourselves and with the stallholders over buying a paddle just wouldn't have been considered a few months ago.
The range of customers was also interesting; students in leather, experienced members of the fetish scene dressed all in black, middle-aged couples in street clothes. Things like the BBB do a lot to encourage people to talk about sex and sexual topics that have previously been 'not for discussion.' To me, that is a good thing and it's partly why I started this blog. The more open and honest we are about sex and sexuality, the more comfortable society will be with it and the less willing to throw up its' hands in horror over things that are just part of a basic human instinct.
None of us would be here without sex. It's time we stopped being frightened by it.
Mrs SS and I will be back at the BBB in September, hopefully with our friends. See you there?
